Neblina Cloud Forest Reserve in Ecuador

Climate-supporting Cloud Forests are high altitude rainforests and are under threat from deforestation. 93% of cloud forest's have already been lost in Ecuador, so preserving the remaining forests is vital. Rewinding in the Gurukula Botanical Reserve in Kerala, India, gives employment to women from rural villages who are trained as ‘ecosystem gardeners’. They nurture over 2,000 rare plant species, to rewild former tea plantations in the Western Ghats mountain range, where 93% of the original forest habitat has been lost. The Urpiano Beach Leatherback Turtle Project - Costa Rica.

Poaching, plastic pollution and commercial fishing have seriously reduced numbers of turtles globally. The Urpiano Beach project in Costa Rica helps to protect this endangered species by gathering turtle eggs from their nests, reaering them in specially-built hatcheries and escorting the hatchlings down the beach to start their new lives at sea.
